How To Set Up Your Author Facebook Page in 2020
You’re either in the process of writing your book and want to build some hype, or your book is already published and it’s time to start marketing. Either way, I recommend you set up an author Facebook page as one of your social media channels. It is rather quick and painless to set up so let’s create your page!
What You Will Need
- A personal Facebook account.
- A profile picture at minimum 170×170 pixels. Keep in mind that Facebook crops the picture into a circle. Ideally, this will be a professional image of your face or your logo.
- A cover photo at least 400 pixels wide and 150 pixels tall. You can make this space shine with your book updates. Recommended sizes for both images found here.
The Steps
- Go to Facebook and log in if you haven’t already. Navigate to https://www.facebook.com/pages and click on “Create Page” at the top right.
- Click on the “Get Started” button in the “Business or brand” box.
- Type in your page name. This can be your pen name or brand name.
- Search for “Writer” or “Author” under Category and click on the one you like the most.
- Click “Continue” when you’re happy.
- Upload your profile picture. This is the smaller of the two images.
- Upload your cover photo.
- Invite your Facebook friends to like your page to get the ball rolling.
- Click on “Add button” to get people one-click away from contacting you or reaching your website.
- Create a unique username by clicking the @username below your profile pic. This way people can type in your username after Facebook.com/ to find your page.
- Click “Edit Page Info” at the top right and fill in your details. Please note: If you only have a home address, and don’t want the world to know where you live, make sure the “Has a street address” box is unticked, even if you leave the “Customers visit my business at my street address” box unticked. Otherwise, Instagram will display your address when you link the two accounts, even if your address is hidden on your Facebook page.
And you’re all set! Congratulations on setting up your author Facebook page. Happy posting! Please get in touch if you’d like someone to open your social media platforms for you. Unsure if a Facebook page is what you need as a writer? Check out the benefits of a Facebook page here.
